Scott Little
A seasoned executive recruiter
with extensive newspaper experience.

A third generation newspaperman, Scott came up on the sales and marketing side of the business. Since the mid-1980's he has held Publisher's positions for both daily and weekly newspapers – always in tough, competitive markets. He knows what it takes to get the job done.
In addition, he has extensive experience as an executive recruiter. This combination makes him uniquely qualified to find and present only those candidates who fit the job.


Peter Starren

Extensive leadership experience at every level of the newspaper industry.

Starren is a career newspaper executive, having worked for public and private media companies in North Dakota, California, Maine, and Nevada.  He has held a variety of positions including group Publisher, Publisher, Associate Publisher, General Manager, Circulation Director, and Operations Director.  He's worked in tough and competitive markets and in union and non-union environments, including spending several years on management collective bargaining negotiating teams.  He's worked for stand-alone newspapers and in strategic marketing group situations.  Peter has 27 years of successful recruiting and hiring experience inside the newspaper industry.

Jody Poe

Offering expertise and experience in print and new media.  

Poe, named one of the Newspaper Association of America’s Top 20 Under 40 for 2006/07, began her career in 1995 at a niche weekly in Nebraska and Wyoming.  She developed a passion for the sales and business side of the industry and spent the next twelve years working for Swift Communications as a sales executive, general manager and publisher. As publisher, Poe converted two traditional weeklies in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee area to free daily publications and launched and oversaw the development of news and entertainment websites. Poe will bring her expertise in interactive and digital initiatives to the Media Recruiters team.

Deborah Little

Offering a unique combination of experience and instinct.

Deborah spent over a decade in the newspaper business in advertising administration, personnel, and customer service. In addition she has years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on benefits administration for major employers in the state of California . This combined experience makes her a skilled, client-oriented executive recruiter.
